We cover all of Essex
We cover all of Essex including: Manningtree, Harwich, Brightlingsea, Clacton, Braintree, Chelmsford, Wrabness, Marks Tey, Frinton, Halstead, Saffron Walden, Lawford, Brentwood, Great Bentley, Mistley, Basildon, Walton, Colchester, Wivenhoe and more.
You have probably already looked. Showrooms, websites, Instagram accounts with immaculate kitchens that never quite translate. Ranges that call themselves bespoke but arrive in standard carcass sizes. Designers who listen carefully and then show you something that looks like everything else.
At some point most people doing a serious kitchen project in Essex reach the same conclusion. What they want does not exist off the shelf. It has to be made.
That is exactly what Turner & Co Bespoke Joinery Ltd does.
Starting From Zero
There is no range here. No door styles to choose from, no standard dimensions to work around. When we take on a kitchen project we start from the room, the brief and the person living in it, and we design from there.
That means the proportions are right for the space rather than close enough. The storage works the way you actually store things rather than the way a product manager decided you should. The details, the profiles, the way the light catches a door, the weight of a drawer, all of it is considered rather than inherited.
It takes longer than buying a kitchen. It is worth it.
What Gets Decided And When
The design process is a sequence of decisions that build on each other, and the order matters.
Layout and spatial logic come first. Before style, before colour, before anything visible. A kitchen that is laid out well and finished simply will always outperform one that looks spectacular but makes you walk three steps too many every time you cook.
Style and timber follow from the space and the property. A Georgian townhouse in Saffron Walden asks for something different to a converted barn outside Chelmsford or a new build near Colchester. We look at the building, the light, the adjacent rooms and we make a case for what will work. You make the final call.
Colour, worktop, ironmongery and appliance integration come last, chosen in relation to everything already decided. This is where a lot of kitchens go wrong, treating these as independent choices rather than parts of a whole.

The Workshop, The Finish, The Install
Everything is made at our Ipswich workshop. Cabinets, doors, drawer boxes, island units, larder cabinets, any storage running into a utility or boot room. Made by hand, built to the drawings, from timber selected for the project.
The spray finish goes on in the workshop before the kitchen leaves for site. It is not touched up on installation day and it does not depend on the weather or the conditions in your house. What you see when it arrives is what it is.
Our team installs. The same business that designed it and built it fits it. Nothing gets lost in the gap between contractor and supplier.
The Next Step
Turner & Co is a family run joinery business based in Ipswich with a long background in making things to last. If this sounds like the right approach for your project, the place to start is a conversation. We visit the property, look at the space and talk through what you have in mind. No presentation, no pressure, just a proper look at what is involved.
